چکیده

The Drugs Rules, 1945, framed under the Drugs Act, 1940, are more or less an exact replica of the Statutory Rules and Orders made under the Therapeutic Substances Act of Great Britain. The question of the differences in susceptibility and reactivity of laboratory animals in India and England has not been taken into consideration. Taylor and Ahuja (1935) reported that ' White mice bred in Kasauli from imported English stock have been found to show a susceptibility to the toxic action of Novarsenobenzene different from that of the parent herd from which they* were derived The mice in England could tolerate a 43 per cent bigger dose than their offspring bred and reared in Kasauli. It is therefore essential to compare the response to injection of infective agents and antigens of laboratory animals in India and England before formulating any standards. The present work

Susceptibility of three Eco-races of tropical Tasar silkworm to Antheraea mylitta cytoplasmic polyhedrosis virus (AmCPV)

Pathogenic infection in tasar silkworm, Antheraea mylitta Drury. is common and there is a breed specific response regarding tolerance. Observations reveal the possibility of differential response by haemocytes to microbial infection in different breeds. Hence, the susceptibility of three eco-races of tasar silkworm viz. Daba, Sarihan and Raily to Antheraea mylitta Cytoplasmic Polyhedrosis Virus...

Awareness regarding hepatitis B immunization among preclinical Indian dental students

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Hepatitis B Virus (HBV), a DNA virus with a human-only reservoir, is a worldwide public health problem. Approximately 45.0% of the world’s population is considered to live in areas of high endemicity with a lifetime risk of infection of more than 60.0%. The present study aimed to assess the level of understanding and awareness about Hepatitis B immunization among the first a...

Application of bacteriophages to control Salmonella Enteritidis in raw eggs

Background: Salmonella, a bacterial genus of more than 2500 serotypes is considered as the most significant foodborne pathogen causing infections in humans and animals. Increased antimicrobial resistance and persistence of antimicrobial residues in food matrices warrants the need for alternative infection management strategies. Aims: The present study aimed to isolate and evaluate the lytic act...

Effect of LIGHT Adjuvant on Kinetics of T-Cell Responses Induced by HSV-1 DNA Immunization

Background: Studies on efficacy of various vaccines that prevent or reduce the primary and recurrent HSV-1 infection have demonstrated the importance of cellular immunity for protection against the infection. We previously used DNA vaccination to induce cellular immunity against HSV-1 infection in mice. Objective: The aim of our study was to evaluate the effect of LIGHT, a member of TNF super f...
